Here's a virtual tour of a part of the beautiful country called Switzerland...
Though I have taken around 600 photos, I can't upload all of them so here are a few...
Lausanne
We stayed at Hotel Beau Rivage Palace which is oen of Europe's favourite hotels for teh wealthy and the famous. It is also where Atal Bihari Vajpayee stayed during the G8 summit in 2003 - I saw that room, too. It is one of the best hotels in Lausanne. It is simply breathtaking and I had a room with a view.
From the room window, I caught these sights
A view of the mountains across the Lac Leman
Note the chestnut trees on the avenue

Such roadside cafes are a very French kind of scene. Incidentally, Lausanne is the French zone. Switzerland is distinctly divided into three kinds of zones - The German, The French and the The Italian.
The Riviera
The Lake Side
The famous Cathedral of Lausanne
there is a very interesting story behind the Cathedral. It is said that Lausanne was Catholic in faith till the Bernese invasion when the people, fed up with the excesses of Bishops, welcomed the invaders and turned into Protestants.
The Olympics Museum at Lausanne is the only one of its kind in the world. These days it has a special hall on the Beijing Games
Golden Pass Railways
the Golden Pass Railways is one of the most romantic ways to travel across the Gstaad region. It is all gold and mahogany in ambience.
Gstaad is where the rich and the famous have their chalets. Hollywood stars and tycoons stay there during the skiing season.
The Road to Glacier 3000
From Gstaad we went to the Glacier 3000 and was it breathtaking!
It was one of those rare sunny days and the snow covered areas were filled with skiiers of all age group. There were children as young as 3 years old and senior citizens as old as 70 years.
This is Village Les Diablerets which nestles just under the snow covered mountains.

A visual expedition which is simply beyond words to describe! Enjoyed brwsing thru the
Swiss e-gallery.
Best wishes,

hi Tanushree
wow! what a visual treat! the best part of Switzerland apart from the obvious breath taking locales, is that its a multicultural country. As you have mentioned its got Spanish, German and French zones. that is quite interesting, as it enables one to witness all three cultures in one place.
theres no adjective in the dictionary that hasnt been used to describe the locales in Switzerland, so i'll just keep it simple, Switzerland is just beautiful.
I realy envy you at times, as you travel to such exotic locales! your article in HT Cafe on Switzerland was quite interesting. i specially liked the "In Wonderland" section of the writeup. you just brought alive the whole lazy sunday afternoon scene!
take care
ciao

Dear Arvind,
I'll try to guide you through the process but I also try the 'trial and error' method for uploading photos. Am sending you a detailed note on the procedure..

Hi Nargis,
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to check out my blog. I really appreciate it.. I understand what you mean...it happens all the time - a book, movie, or even a place..
I did go to Interlaken, Schilthorn, Appenzel, Leysin, and several other parts but there are too many pictures to post....maybe another time.
Thanks for your compliments...I really cherish them

Hi Tanushree................
)And you said it....the Golden Pass Railways is indeed one of the most romantic ways to travel
....Btw...did you not visit Interlaken? Or did you not post those photographs?
WOW! Switzerland! Simply the name evokes an imagery that is beyond imagination. You know what just like when one praises a movie too much and you go with great expectations and then feel let down I had thought that Switzerland also would be something like that. Surprisingly it was not! And you know why. Some of those photographs are beautiful as is a certain lady that is poised at the foredrop.....(is there such a word?
